Quick answer
- Pick CurrentBody if you want a 510(k) record that names the product (K250966)7; you want three wavelengths, 633, 830 and 1072 nm1; you want a 14-day refund if a 24-hour skin test goes badly1.
- Pick Omnilux if you want the lower price, $3955; you want a stated eye-safety standard and no need for eye cover4; you are fine with two wavelengths, 633 and 830 nm4.
- Check first: Omnilux takes a $15 fee from LED device refunds6. CurrentBody does not refund delivery costs3.
This page covers Series 2, the model most press head-to-heads compare with Contour. CurrentBody's newer Series 3 costs $569.99, and no 510(k) record names it (openFDA, searched 24 Oct 2026)10,7. If you plan to pair a mask with needling, read using an LED mask after microneedling first.

How we compared Checked on 24 Oct 2026. We read both brands' US product pages, store data and refund policies, and searched the FDA 510(k) database. We compared the same points for each mask: price, light colors, LED count, schedule, eye cover, returns, FDA record and rating. Facts come from public pages only. The studies each brand cites were not checked in full. Nobody at DermaRatings has used either mask.
Price and what you get
CurrentBody sells Series 2 in three bundles2:
- Mask alone: $469.99
- Special LED Red Light Kit: $549.99
- Face & Neck Kit: $799.99
The neck mask in the kit comes with a USB-C cable, a manual, a controller and a strap1. The face mask uses flexible silicone, runs on a lithium-ion battery and has a clip-on controller1.
Omnilux sells Contour Face as one option at $3955. The product page does not list what is in the box4.
Neither brand sells refills or a subscription for these masks2,5. The price on day one is the full cost, and the gap is $74.99.
How each one is used
Both masks run a 10-minute session1,4. The schedules differ.
CurrentBody's usage line reads "Daily for 28 days then 5x/week for 28 days, 10 mins per session"1. It asks for a skin test first. You run a full session on the inner thigh, arm or back of the hand, then wait at least 24 hours1. If the skin is red or itchy, CurrentBody says to return the mask "within 14 days for a full refund"1.
Omnilux says: "We recommend using the Contour devices 3-5 times per week for 4-6 weeks"4. After that, it suggests maintenance "as desired"4. It also says, "We recommend only using the devices 3-5x a week, as we have not studied the effect of using the device every day"4. Omnilux says results may start "at 4 weeks"4.
So CurrentBody asks for more sessions in the first month. Omnilux advises against daily use.
Wavelengths and LEDs
CurrentBody lists "3 highly precise wavelengths: red (633nm), near-infrared (830nm) and deep near-infrared (1072nm)"1. The page shows 236 LED bulbs and a power density of 30 mW/cm²1.
Omnilux says Contour "utilizes red light (633nm) in combination with near-infrared light (830nm)"4. It has "a total of 132 LEDs, 66 red and 66 near-infrared", in 66 dual-chip bulbs4. It states an output of "~30mW/cm2"4.
Both masks share the 633 nm and 830 nm wavelengths. The 1072 nm light is the only wavelength one mask has and the other lacks. Neither page shows a study comparing the two masks.
On results, CurrentBody claims "reducing wrinkles by 30% and improving plumpness by 57% in 8 weeks"1. Its footnote describes a 56-day study of 35 subjects on Series 21. Omnilux says its devices "have been featured in over 40 peer-reviewed clinical studies"4. Both are brand claims. We could not check the studies in full.
Returns and support
CurrentBody's US policy reads: "you have 30 days to return your item(s)"3. A full refund applies if the item is "new and unused", with accessories, packaging and seals intact3. It is "unable to refund any delivery or postage costs"3. The skin-test refund on the product page is a separate 14-day route1.
Omnilux says Contour and its other LED devices "have a 30-day Return Policy"6. Returns of an LED device carry "a $15 USD return fee", taken from the refund6. The window starts on the day of delivery. Returns must include the original box and parts6.
What buyers say
On 24 Oct 2026 CurrentBody showed 4.4 on Trustpilot from 25,195 reviews8. Omnilux showed 2.2 from 232 reviews9. Both scores cover every product each store sells, not only these masks.
CurrentBody's own page shows 4.6 out of 5 from 4,243 reviews1. The same count appeared on its Series 3 page, so the widget may pool more than one mask1,10. We found no Omnilux rating with a count on the Contour page4. Brands control the reviews on their own sites.
Safety and regulatory status
| CurrentBody Series 2 | Omnilux Contour Face | |
|---|---|---|
| Brand's claim | "FDA cleared LED face mask" | "Contour is an FDA-cleared, flexible, portable home-use device" |

The K250966 record names "CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2 (MK-90H)"7. For Omnilux, we could not find a 510(k) record that names Contour (openFDA, searched 24 Oct 2026)7. That does not prove it is not cleared, because records can use other device names. Ask Omnilux for the number.
Each brand lists cautions. CurrentBody says do not use the mask if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding1. It also lists lupus erythematosus, photosensitive eczema and albinism1. Omnilux says Contour is "intended for users 21+ years old" and "will not clear acne breakouts"4. On the eyes, Omnilux says Contour "conforms to international eye safety standards IEC/EN 62471"4. CurrentBody offers optional eye inserts1.
Verdict
These masks share two wavelengths and a 10-minute session. CurrentBody Series 2 costs $74.99 more, adds 1072 nm light, uses more LEDs and has a 510(k) record that names it. Omnilux Contour costs less, states an eye-safety standard and takes a $15 return fee. Its store-wide Trustpilot score is much lower. Choose on price, schedule and how much a named FDA record matters to you.

Frequently asked questions
Is CurrentBody the best LED face mask?
No single test makes it the best. On our table, CurrentBody Series 2 costs more ($469.99 against $395) and adds a third wavelength, 1072 nm. It also has a 510(k) record that names it, K250966. Omnilux Contour costs less and has a stated eye-safety rating. Which suits you depends on budget and on how much the FDA record matters to you.
What is the highest rated red light therapy mask?
There is no neutral rating of masks alone. On 24 Oct 2026 CurrentBody had a Trustpilot score of 4.4 from 25,195 reviews and Omnilux had 2.2 from 232. Both scores cover the whole store and every product it sells, not one mask. Read the reviews that mention the mask you want before you rely on a score.
What is the #1 red light mask?
No single ranking exists. Press lists differ, and brands rank their own products first. A fairer way to choose is to compare the same facts for each mask: price, wavelengths, schedule, return terms and whether a 510(k) record names the product. The table on this page does that for CurrentBody Series 2 and Omnilux Contour Face.
Is CurrentBody a legitimate brand?
On the public record, yes. CurrentBody had a Trustpilot score of 4.4 from 25,195 reviews on 24 Oct 2026, across its whole store. The FDA 510(k) database lists K250966 for the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask Series 2, decided on 25 Jun 2025. Its US refund policy gives 30 days for items that are new and unused.
Is Omnilux Contour FDA cleared?
Omnilux says Contour is FDA-cleared. We could not find a 510(k) record that names Contour (openFDA, searched 24 Oct 2026). That does not mean it is not cleared. A clearance can sit under another device name. Ask Omnilux for the 510(k) number and look it up in the FDA database before you buy.
