By DermaRatings Editorial TeamUpdated Facts checked 7 min read

Omnilux Contour Face costs $395 and Shark CryoGlow costs $349.99 on Shark's own site, a gap of $45.012,4. Omnilux uses red and near-infrared light only1. Shark adds blue light modes and under-eye cooling4. Shark has a 510(k) record that names CryoGlow, K2427966. Omnilux says Contour is FDA-cleared, but we found no record that names it1,6.

Quick answer

  • Pick Omnilux if you want a simple red and near-infrared mask1; you want 2 years of cover on both the mask and the controller1; you are fine with 3 to 5 sessions a week1.
  • Pick Shark if you want blue light modes for breakouts as well as red light4; you want built-in under-eye cooling4; you want a 510(k) record that names the product, K2427966.
  • Check first: Omnilux takes a $15 fee from LED device refunds3. Shark's price was $339.99 on Amazon on the same day, so compare sellers5.

If you plan to use a mask after needling, read using an LED mask after microneedling first.

How we compared Checked on 24 Oct 2026. We read both brands' US product pages, Omnilux's refund policy, Shark's Amazon listing and the FDA 510(k) database. We compared the same points for each mask: price, light, session, schedule, extras, warranty, returns, FDA record and ratings. Facts come from public pages only. We did not check the brands' studies in full. Nobody at DermaRatings has used either mask.

Price and what you get

Omnilux sells Contour Face as one option at $3952. The box holds the silicone mask, a rechargeable battery controller, a power supply with plug adaptors, a USB-C to USB-A cable, head straps and a carry bag1.

Shark lists $349.99 on its own site4. Amazon showed $339.99, sold by Amazon.com, on the same day5. Shark's "In the Box" list is the CryoGlow mask, clip-on chill pads, a remote and a USB-C charging cable4.

Neither brand sells refills or a plan for these masks2,4. The price you pay on day one is the full cost.

Light modes and how each one is used

Omnilux runs one 10-minute session. You strap the mask on and hold the button to start1. It "utilizes red light (633nm) in combination with near-infrared light (830nm)"1. The page lists 132 LEDs in 66 bulbs1.

Shark has four modes4,5:

  • Better Aging: 6 minutes of red and infrared light, for fine lines and firmness.
  • Skin Clearing: 8 minutes of blue and infrared light, then red, for acne and redness.
  • Skin Sustain: 4 minutes of red, blue and infrared light.
  • Under-Eye Revive: 5 to 15 minutes of cooling, with 3 chill levels.

Shark's page does not give the wavelengths in nanometres4. If you want to match a mask to a study, that makes Shark harder to check.

On schedule, Omnilux says to use Contour "3-5 times per week for 4-6 weeks", then for upkeep "as desired"1. It adds that it has "not studied the effect of using the device every day"1. Shark gives no weekly plan on its page. Its study notes describe "1x/day use" for 12 weeks4.

So the two brands point you to different routines. Omnilux asks for fewer sessions. Shark's sessions are shorter but the study pattern is daily.

What each brand claims

Shark says its results come from a "12-week clinical study with 60 subjects and 1x/day use" in Better Aging mode4. For Skin Clearing it cites 59 subjects4. Amazon's listing says CryoGlow was "Clinically tested on 119 participants by an independent third party"5. Shark also calls it the "#1 Skincare Facial Device in the US"4. We could not see the study details, so treat these as brand claims.

Omnilux says its devices "have been featured in over 40 peer-reviewed clinical studies"1. That is a brand claim about Omnilux as a whole, not a study of Contour alone.

Warranty, returns and support

Omnilux lists "2 years: device | 2 years: controller" for Contour1. Its LED devices "have a 30-day Return Policy"3. A return of an LED device costs "a $15 USD return fee", taken from the refund3. You must send the original box and all parts3. The policy covers orders placed on omniluxled.com only3.

Shark lists a "Two (2) Year Limited Warranty"4. Its page also shows a "60-day money-back guarantee" for orders placed with SharkNinja, under its US 60-day returns policy4. We could not open the full policy text, so read it before you buy. If you buy on Amazon, Amazon's own return terms apply5.

What buyers say

Trustpilot. On 24 Oct 2026 Omnilux showed 2.2 out of 5 from 232 reviews7. SharkNinja showed 2.9 out of 5 from 1,910 reviews8. Both scores cover every product each company sells. SharkNinja's covers vacuums and kitchen tools too, so it says little about this mask.

Amazon, Shark. CryoGlow showed 4.4 out of 5 from 1,116 ratings (checked 24 Oct 2026)5. Amazon's review summary counts mentions by theme5:

  • Effectiveness: 244 mentions, 199 positive and 45 negative.
  • Eye cooling: 82 mentions, 71 positive.
  • Value: 73 mentions, 51 positive and 22 negative.
  • Battery life: 31 mentions, 23 of them negative.

So battery life is the theme most often raised as a problem, in Amazon's summary.

Omnilux. We found no rating with a review count on the Contour page1. We could not read enough mask-specific reviews to list themes for Omnilux.

The K242796 record names "CryoGlow (FW3XXXX)"6. The mask sold here is model FW3124. The record does not list model numbers in full, so we cannot confirm each variant from it.

For Omnilux, openFDA lists older Omnilux records and one for Omnilux CLEAR, an acne mask6. None names Contour. That does not prove Contour is not cleared, because records can use other device names. Ask Omnilux for the number.

On cautions, Omnilux says not to use Contour if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding1. It says the mask is for users "21+ years old"1. Omnilux says its devices are "safe to use on uncovered eyes", though some people find the light bright1. Shark's page does not list an age limit or eye advice4. Read the manual that comes with it.

Verdict

These masks suit different buyers. Omnilux Contour costs $45.01 more on the brands' own sites and keeps to red and near-infrared light. It has 2 years of cover and a $15 return fee. Shark CryoGlow adds blue light, shorter sessions and under-eye cooling. It has a 510(k) record that names it and a 60-day return window when bought direct. Its Amazon reviews flag battery life. Choose on the light modes you want, how often you will use it and how much a named FDA record matters to you.

Frequently asked questions

Which red light mask is better than Omnilux?

No public test shows one mask beating Omnilux for every user. What you can compare is the record. Shark CryoGlow costs $349.99 on its own site, has more light modes and under-eye cooling, and has a 510(k) record that names it, K242796. Omnilux Contour costs $395 and has a plain red and near-infrared design. Pick on price, features and schedule.

What is the best LED face mask?

No single ranking exists, and brands rank their own masks first. A fairer way to choose is to compare the same facts for each mask: price, light colors, session length, schedule, return terms, warranty and whether an FDA record names the product. The table on this page does that for Omnilux Contour Face and Shark CryoGlow.

What is the warranty on Omnilux?

The Omnilux Contour Face page lists a 2-year warranty on the device and 2 years on the controller. That is separate from returns. Omnilux gives 30 days to return its LED devices and takes a $15 return fee from the refund. Returns must include the original box and the parts that came with the mask.

Is the Shark LED mask FDA cleared?

Shark says CryoGlow is FDA-cleared, and the FDA 510(k) database lists K242796 for SharkNinja Operating LLC. The record names the device "CryoGlow (FW3XXXX)" and was decided on 27 Nov 2024 under product code OHS. Clearance means the FDA found it substantially equivalent to a device already on the market. It is not a ruling on results.

Can I use an LED mask every day?

It depends on the brand. Omnilux recommends 3 to 5 sessions a week and says it has "not studied the effect of using the device every day". Shark's page gives no weekly schedule, but its study notes describe use once a day for 12 weeks. Follow the leaflet that comes with your mask, and stop if your skin reacts.
