By DermaRatings Editorial TeamUpdated Facts checked 8 min read
The Dr. Pen M8 and the Qure Micro-Infusion System are different tools. The M8 is a motorized pen with needle depth adjustable from 0 to 2.5 mm, sold without serum1. Qure is a hand stamp with fixed 0.5 mm needles, sold as a kit with its own serums and single-use heads5. Pick the format first, then compare cost and returns. For the stamp format in general, see micro infusion vs microneedling.
Quick answer
- Pick Dr. Pen if you want adjustable depth and a device you keep, and you are ready to buy cartridges and serum separately and follow strict hygiene1.
- Pick Qure if you want a fixed shallow depth, serum included, and a single 2-week schedule5,7.
- Check first: Dr. Pen allows change-of-mind returns only within 14 days, unopened, with a 20% fee. Qure deducts a return fee of about $29 to $493,8.

Prices in USD on 24 Oct 20261,2,6. Sums: Dr. Pen $199 + $55 = $254 for one pen and 10 cartridges, divided by 6 sessions = $42.33, serum not included. Qure $169 / 6 = $28.17; per head $169 / 5 = $33.80. Session counts come from Qure's kit list and from Dr. Pen's one-cartridge-per-use instruction.
How we compared We used the same checks for both. They were format, depth, box contents, the cost of the first 6 sessions from each brand's own figures, schedule, hygiene, returns, warranty, FDA records and ratings. All facts are from public pages, checked on 24 Oct 2026. Nobody at DermaRatings has used either device.
How much does each one cost?
Dr. Pen. The M8 costs $199 on the US store1. The box includes "2x Round Nano-pin Cartridges", and the page notes that "Microneedling cartridges will need to be purchased separately"1. M8 cartridges with 11, 16 or 36 pins cost $55 for a pack of 102. Serum is not included. The page recommends a hyaluronic acid serum sold separately1.
Dr. Pen says to dispose of each cartridge after use1. So six sessions need six cartridges. One pen and one 10-pack is $254, which is $42.33 a session for the first six, before serum. After that, each session costs $5.50 for a cartridge plus your serum2.
The store also lists newer models. The M8 Max was on pre-order at $249, an offer that "Ends 31 October 2026", and the M8S at $2991,2.
Qure. The 3-month bundle costs $169 (crossed-out $357)6. It contains 1 device, "5 × Sterilized Single-Use Micro-Needling Heads" and 6 serums, sold as a "Total of 6 treatments"5. That is $28.17 a treatment, or $33.80 a head. The page does not explain the 5-head count, so we do not guess5. On subscription the bundle costs $137 every 90 days or $127 every 12 weeks, about $21.17 to $22.83 a treatment6. A 6-month bundle of 12 treatments costs $259, or $21.58 each6.
How is each one used?
Dr. Pen. You set the depth, double-cleanse, apply serum to small areas, and glide the pen over the skin1. The page gives a cartridge rule that contradicts itself. It says cartridges "must be sterilized before each use" and gives alcohol-soak steps. It also says "Safely dispose of cartridges after every use" and lists "One cartridge more than once" under things not to do1. Use each cartridge once. The page says not to use the pen on open wounds or on acne or irritated skin1. It also says, "Please speak with your doctor before purchasing any Dr Pen products"1.
Qure. You attach a sterile head to the serum vial, let it soak for 1 to 2 minutes, then stamp7. Qure says one treatment every 2 weeks, and "more frequent use is not better and may irritate the skin"7. Treat at night, avoid sun and makeup for 24 hours, and pause retinoids and acids for 24 to 48 hours before and after7. See how often to use micro infusion for spacing advice.
The depth range is the core difference. Qure stays at 0.5 mm5. The M8 goes to 2.5 mm, and depth choices beyond shallow settings are the kind a dermatologist should guide1.
What's in the box and the serums?
Dr. Pen sells no serum with the M8, so you choose and buy one1. Pick a simple, sterile-packed product made for needling. Qure includes six 4 ml vials of its "Serum for Wrinkles"5. Its rejuvenating serum is based on thermal water with glycerin, panthenol, niacinamide, copper tripeptide-1, beta-glucan and sodium hyaluronate, and Qure says it is fragrance-free7.
Subscription, returns and support
Dr. Pen. The policy offers "a 14-day Change of Mind return from the date of purchase, subject to a 20% restocking fee"3. The item must be new and unopened, with the plastic wrap still sealed3. On a $199 pen, the fee is $39.80. The warranty covers repair or replacement for 12 months from the invoice date3. It does not cover faults caused by third-party cartridges3. Support is by email or phone, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm EDT1.
Qure. The policy gives "a full refund" within 30 days of receiving your order8. You need an RMA number and pay return shipping8. "A return fee will be deducted from the refund to cover the shipping and warehouse cost which would range from approximately $29 - $49"8. Klarna, Sezzle and Afterpay orders get store credit only8. Qure's micro infusion page says "All orders have 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee", while the policy and bundle page say 30 days5,7,8. Subscriptions can be skipped, paused or cancelled, Qure says7.
What do buyers say?
Dr. Pen. We could not read a Trustpilot profile for drpen.co on 24 Oct 2026, so we report no rating and no themes. The M8 page shows statistics such as "Visible improvements in fine lines and wrinkles" after 3 to 6 treatments, with no study named1.
Qure. Its page shows "4.8 /5 Rated by 10k+ Customers", and Trustpilot showed 4.5 out of 5 from 1,654 reviews (checked 24 Oct 2026)5,9. Qure cites a user study of 30 participants aged 25 to 65, in which 93% "noticed results the next day"7. These are self-reported answers, with no methods or control group published. We could not read Trustpilot reviews directly, so we report no themes.
Safety and regulatory status
The FDA says it has authorized microneedling devices "to improve the appearance of facial acne scars, facial wrinkles, and abdominal scars in patients aged 22 years or older"10. The only Dr. Pen-named 510(k) we found is K230420 (2023), "Dr.pen Microneedling System". Its summary lists model A20, for prescription use, to improve facial acne scars in adults 22 and older4. It does not name the M8, and we found no FDA record for the M8 by name4,12.
We found no FDA 510(k) entry for the Qure micro infusion stamp12. Qure says not to use it if you are pregnant or nursing, or on broken-out, irritated or sunburned skin7. The FDA lists common risks of microneedling as bleeding, bruising, redness, tightness, itching and peeling, with infection and dark or light spots among less common ones11. It notes that longer needles reach layers with living cells, nerves and blood vessels11. Talk to a dermatologist before using any setting beyond shallow depths.
Verdict
Pick Dr. Pen if you want adjustable depth and a pen you keep, and you will follow single-use cartridge rules and choose your own serum. Downsides: no serum in the box, a contradictory cartridge instruction, a 14-day unopened return with a 20% fee, no FDA record naming the M8, and no readable Trustpilot profile.
Pick Qure if you want a fixed 0.5 mm stamp, serum in the kit and a single 2-week schedule. Downsides: a $29 to $49 return fee, 5 heads for 6 stated treatments, store credit only for buy-now-pay-later orders, and a 90-day versus 30-day guarantee conflict.

Frequently asked questions
Is Qure the best microneedling device?
No device is best for everyone. Qure is a fixed 0.5 mm stamp sold with its own serums and single-use heads, on a 2-week schedule. The Dr. Pen M8 is a motorized pen with needle depth from 0 to 2.5 mm, sold without serum. They suit different goals and experience levels, so compare format, cost per session and return terms first.
What brand of microneedling is best?
We do not name a winner. Check what the device is, whether its heads or cartridges are single-use, the full cost per session, the return terms once opened, and any FDA record that names the exact model. Our guide to the best micro infusion systems compares eleven home kits on the same checks, with prices dated.
Is Dr. Pen as good as professional microneedling?
The FDA says it has authorized some microneedling devices to improve facial acne scars, facial wrinkles and abdominal scars in people 22 and older. The one Dr. Pen-named 510(k) we found covers a model called A20 for prescription use, not the M8. A clinic treatment is done by a trained provider with sterile, prescription devices. A home pen is not the same.
How many times can I use Qure microneedling?
Qure says its 3-month bundle gives 6 treatments, one every 2 weeks, with a fresh sterile head each time. It says more frequent use is not better and may irritate the skin. The bundle lists 5 heads with 6 serums, so check the box before your sixth session. Qure says not to use it if you are pregnant or nursing.
Can you reuse Dr. Pen cartridges?
Follow the single-use instruction. The M8 page tells you to sterilize cartridges before each use, but the same page also says to dispose of cartridges after every use and not to use one cartridge more than once. M8 cartridges cost $55 for a pack of 10 on 24 Oct 2026, which is $5.50 each.
